NaPoWriMo for 4/9: “Nude”

Standard

Don’t believe the magazines:
That piece of cloth was never “flesh toned.”
My flesh has never been that pale-
the color of sandstone, creamy and sure.
My flesh is brown like almonds and apple butter,
hums red like clay or coffee with cinnamon.
One-size-fits-all don’t suit my curves:
the crease of my eyelid, curl of my hair,
the wide round welcome of untamable hips.
So no, I don’t match my clothes exact
and I can’t go “nude” like the models do
but I can go real
and I can go me
and you can come see if you’re ready, ready, ready for this jelly
you can come see if you’re ready…
